Here we go again with the media focused on every move, word, behavior and tweeet that another Liar from congress utters.  By the way he is just the latest in a long line of caught liars.  He will apologise, say he is not leaving congress, and then go to treatment to get out of the press.  How about the ones that are not yet caught.  Reading and listening to the media we would have to conclude that there is nothing going on in this country but taking pictures and attending to social media.  Which is actually all I do think that is going on.  Nero fidled as Rome burned but it was just the christians that were burning anyway. 


We have a government that is totally out of control.  Mostly corupt. Dedicated to their own reelection and not taking care of our business.  14.4 TRILLION in debt.  Who of any of them have been watching our store.  It is not their own “piggy bank”.   I know you can give me an example of a good man or women in service to his country.  But, overall the congress, judicial, and excutive branches of government are awash with liars, thieves, cheats, sociopaths, sexual deviants, and more.  The number of scandles that have come to light in the past 40 years is mind boggling.  There are only 435 congressman, 9 judges, and one president.  The odds that  they are lying , cheating etc compared to the rest of the country  should be about 2% or less.  8 to 10 liars.  Quess what?  There are at least that many sexual deviants in congress alone.  If you add up all the liars it is vurtually all of them. 


As I was getting ready for this blog I came across a document from Wikipedia that listed scandles.   If you take the time to read this just back thru Clinton you will not believe the extent of the coroption in DC.  They all need to be thrown out and start over.  Term limits would have fixed half the problems in the list below.

  • John Ensign (R-NV) resigned his Senate seat on May 3, 2011 in order to preempt the findings of the Senate Ethics Committee claiming he broke the law during the aftermath of his extramarital affair with Cynthia Hampton. (2011)[1][2][3][4]
  • Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) Rep. Rangel was found guilty on 11 charges by the House Ethics Committee.[5][6][7][8] On December 2, 2010, the full House of Representatives voted 333-79 to censure Rangel.(2010)[9]
  • Tom DeLay (R-TX) On November 24, 2010 a Texas jury convicted DeLay of money laundering connected to the Jack Abramoff scandal. (2010)[10][11] On January 10, 2011, he was sentenced to three years in prison in Texas.[12][13]
  • Joe Wilson (R-SC) The congressman from South Carolina interrupted a major televised speech about health care reform by President Barack Obama to a joint session of Congress. After Obama said that no illegal aliens would be accepted under his health plan, Rep. Wilson shouted, "You lie!" The incident resulted in a formal rebuke by the House of Representatives. He later admitted that the outburst was "inappropriate". (2009)[14]

  • G. Thomas Porteous The Federal Judge for Eastern Louisiana was unanimously impeached by the US House of Representatives on charges of corruption and perjury in March 2010. He was convicted by the US Senate and removed from office. He had been appointed by Bill Clinton. (2010) [15][16]
  • Samuel B. Kent The Federal District Judge of Galveston, Texas was sentenced to 33 months in prison for lying about sexually harassing two female employees. He had been appointed to office by George H. W. Bush in 1990. (2009) [17][18]

  • Bush White House e-mail controversy – During the Lawyergate investigation it was discovered that the Bush administration used Republican National Committee (RNC) web servers for millions of emails which were then destroyed, lost or deleted in possible violation of the Presidential Records Act and the Hatch Act. George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Andrew Card, Sara Taylor and Scott Jennings all used RNC webservers for the majority of their emails. Of 88 officials, no emails at all were discovered for 51 of them.[35] As many as 5 million e-mails requested by Congressional investigators of other Bush administration scandals were therefore unavailable, lost, or deleted.[36]
  • Lurita Alexis Doan (R) Resigned as head of the General Services Administration. She was under scrutiny for conflict of interest and violations of the Hatch Act.[37] Among other things she asked GSA employees how they could "help Republican candidates." [38]
  • Jack Abramoff Scandal in which the prominent lobbyist with close ties to Republican administration officials and legislators offered bribes as part of his lobbying efforts. Abramhoff was sentenced to 4 years in prison.[39][40] See Legislative scandals.

1.      David Safavian GSA (General Services Administration) Chief of Staff,[41] found guilty of blocking justice and lying,[42] and sentenced to 18 months[43]

2.      Roger Stillwell (R) Staff in the Department of the Interior under George W. Bush. Pleaded guilty and received two years suspended sentence. [7]

3.      Susan B. Ralston (R) Special Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to Karl Rove, resigned October 6, 2006 after it became known that she accepted gifts and passed information to her former boss Jack Abramoff.[44]

4.      J. Steven Griles (R) former Deputy to the Secretary of the Interior pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and was sentenced to 10 months.[45]

5.      Italia Federici (R) staff to the Secretary of Interior, and President of the Council of Republicans for Environmental Advocacy, pled guilty to tax evasion and obstruction of justice. She was sentenced to four years probation.[46][47][48]

6.      Jared Carpenter (R) Vice-President of the Council of Republicans for Environmental Advocacy, was discovered during the Abramoff investigation and pled guilty to income tax evasion. He got 45 days, plus 4 years probation.[49]

7.      Michael Scanlon (R) former staff to Tom DeLay: working for Abramoff, pleaded guilty to bribery.[39][40]

8.      Tony Rudy (R) former staff to Tom DeLay, pleaded guilty to conspiracy.[40]

9.      Bob Ney (R-OH) bribed by Abramoff, pleaded guilty to conspiracy, sentenced to 30 months.[40]

10. Neil Volz (R) former staff to Robert Ney, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy in 2006 charges stemming from his work for Bob Ney. In 2007 he was sentenced to two years probation, 100 hours community service, and a fine of $2,000.[50]

11. Mark Zachares (R) staff in the Department of Labor, bribed by Abramoff, guilty of conspiracy to defraud.[40]

12. Robert E. Coughlin (R) Deputy Chief of Staff, Crimianl Division of the Justice Department pleaded guilty to conflict of interest after accepting bribes from Jack Abramoff. (2008) [47]

13. William Heaton (R), former chief of staff for Bob Ney (R), pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy charge involving a golf trip to Scotland, expensive meals, and tickets to sporting events between 2002 and 2004 as payoffs for helping Abramoff's clients.[51]

14. Kevin A. Ring (R) former staff to John Doolittle (R-CA) indicted on 8 counts of corruption. The judge declared a mistrial.[52]

15. John Albaugh (R) former chief of staff to Ernest Istook (R-OK) pled guilty to accepting bribes connected to the Federal Highway Bill. Istook was not charged. (2008) [53]

16. James Hirni, (R) former staff to Tim Hutchinson (R-AR) was charged with wire fraud for giving a staffer for Don Young (R) of Alaska a bribe in exchange for amendments to the Federal Highway Bill. (2008) [54]

  • Kyle Foggo Executive director of the CIA was convicted of honest services fraud in the awarding of a government contract and sentenced to 37 months in federal prison at Pine Knot, Kentucky. On September 29, 2008, Foggo pleaded guilty to one count of the indictment, admitting that while he was the CIA executive director, he acted to steer a CIA contract to the firm of his lifelong friend, Brent R. Wilkes.[55]
  • Julie MacDonald (R) Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Department of the Interior, resigned May 1, 2007 after giving government documents to developers (2007)[56]
  • Claude Allen (R) Appointed as an advisor by President Bush on Domestic Policy, Allen was arrested for a series of felony thefts in retail stores. He was convicted on one count and resigned soon after.[57]
  • Lester Crawford (R) Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, resigned after 2 months. Pled guilty to conflict of interest and received 3 years suspended sentence and fined $90,000 (2006) [58]
  • 2003 Invasion of Iraq depended on intelligence that Saddam Hussein was developing "weapons of mass destruction" (WMDs) meaning nuclear, chemical and/or biological weapons for offensive use. The Downing Street memo were minutes of a British secret meeting with the US (dated 23 July 2002, leaked 2005) which include a summary of MI6 Director Sir Richard Dearlove's report that "Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and the facts were being fixed around the policy" This was called the 'smoking gun' concerning W. Bush's run up to war with Iraq.(2005)[59]
  • Yellowcake forgery: Just prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration presented evidence to the UN that Iraq was seeking material (yellowcake uranium) in Africa for making nuclear weapons. Though presented as true, it was later found to be not only dubious, but outright false.[60]
  • Bush administration payment of columnists with federal funds to say nice things about Republican policies. Illegal payments were made to journalists Armstrong Williams (R), Maggie Gallagher (R) and Michael McManus (R) (2004–2005)[61]
  • Sandy Berger (D) former Clinton security adviser pleads guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully removing classified documents from the National Archives in (2005)[62]
  • Bernard Kerik (R) nomination in 2004 as Secretary of Homeland Security was derailed by past employment of an illegal alien as a nanny, and other improprieties. On Nov 4, 2009, he pled guilty to two counts of tax fraud and five counts of lying to the federal government(2009)[63] and was sentenced to four years in prison.[63]
  • Torture: Top US officials including George W. Bush [64] and Dick Cheney [65] authorized enhanced interrogation techniques of prisoners, including waterboarding (called torture by many) by US troops and the CIA in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. In 2010 Bush stated "He'd do it again..." and Cheney stated on ABC's This Week, "I was a big supporter of waterboarding." [66] (2004)
  • Plame affair (2004), in which CIA agent Valerie Plame's name was leaked by Richard Armitage, the State Department official, to the press in retaliation for her husband's criticism of the reports used by George W. Bush to legitimize the Iraq war.[67]
  • Thomas A. Scully, (R) administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), withheld information from Congress about the projected cost of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act, and allegedly threatened to fire Medicare's chief actuary, Richard Foster, if Foster provided the data to Congress. (2003)[68] Scully resigned on December 16, 2003.
  • NSA warrantless surveillance – Shortly after the September 11 attacks in 2001, President George W. Bush (R) implemented a secret program by the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on domestic telephone calls by American citizens without warrants, thus by-passing the FISA court which must approve all such actions. (2002)[69] In 2010, Federal Judge Vaughn Walker ruled this practice to be illegal.[70]
  • Enron collapse (2002) leading to investigation of its CEO Kenneth Lay (R), a former member of the Republican National Committee and once considered a possible pick for Secretary of the Treasury, was a top political ally and financial donor to President George W. Bush. Lay was found guilty of 10 counts of securities fraud, but died before sentencing.[71]
  • Janet Rehnquist (R) appointed Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services by George W. Bush. In 2002, Governor Jeb Bush's (R-FL) Chief of Staff Kathleen Shanahan asked Rehnquist to delay auditing a $571 million federal overpayment to the State of Florida. Rehnquist ordered her staff to delay the investigation for five months until after the Florida elections. When Congress began an investigation in to the matter, Rehnquist resigned in March 2003, saying she wanted to spend more time with her family.[72][73][74][74][75][76]
  • John Yoo (R) An attorney in the Office of Legal Counsel inside the Justice Department who, working closely with vice president Dick Cheney and The Bush Six,[77] wrote memos stating the right of the president to –
1.      suspend sections of the ABM Treaty without informing Congress [78]

2.      bypass the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act allowing warrentless wiretapping of US Citizens within the United States by the National Security Agency.[78]

3.      state that the First Amendment and Fourth Amendments and the Takings Clause do not apply to the president in time of war as defined in the USA PATRIOT Act [78]

4.      allow Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (torture) because provisions of the War Crimes Act, the Third Geneva Convention, and the Torture convention do not apply.[78]

Many of his memos have since been repudiated and reversed.[78][79] Later review by the Justice Department reported that Yoo and Jay Bybee used "poor judgement" in the memos, but no charges have yet been filed. 

  Legislative Branch

  • Ted Stevens Senator (R-AK) convicted on seven counts of bribery and tax evasion October 27, 2008 just prior to the election. He continued his run for re-election, but lost. Once the Republican was defeated in his re-election, new US Attorney General Eric Holder (D) dismissed the charges "in the interest of justice" stating that the Justice Department had illegally withheld evidence from defense counsel.[81]
  • Charles Rangel (D-NY) failed to report $75,000 income from the rental of his villa in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and was forced to pay $11,000 in back taxes.(September 2008)[82]
  • Rick Renzi (R-AZ) Announced he would not seek another term. Seven months later, on February 22, 2008 he pleaded not guilty to 35 charges of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.[83]
  • Jack Abramoff Scandal, (R) lobbyist found guilty of conspiracy, tax evasion and corruption of public officials in three different courts in a wide ranging investigation. Currently serving 70 months and fined $24.7 million.[84] See Scandals, Executive Branch. The following were also implicated:

1.      Tom DeLay (R-TX) The House Majority Leader was reprimanded twice by the House Ethics Committee and his aides indicted (2004–2005); eventually DeLay himself was investigated in October 2005 in connection with the Abramoff scandal, but not indicted. DeLay resigned from the House 9 June 2006.[85] Delay was found to have illegally channeled funds from Americans for a Republican Majority to Republican state legislator campaigns. He was convicted of two counts of money laundering and conspiracy in 2010.[86]

2.      James W. Ellis (R) executive director of Americans for a Republican Majority a PAC, was indicted for money laundering.[87]


4.      Bob Ney (R-OH) pleaded guilty to conspiracy and making false statements as a result of his receiving trips from Abramoff in exchange for legislative favors. Ney received 30 months in prison.[88]

5.      Robert E. Coughlin (R) Deputy Chief of Staff, Criminal Division, Justice Department, pled guilty to accepting bribes.[89]

  • John Doolittle (R-CA) both he and his wife were under investigation (January 2008). Under this cloud, Doolittle decided not to run for re-election in November 2008. The Justice Department announced in June 2010 they had terminated the investigation and found no wrong doing.[90]
  • Randy Cunningham (R-CA)pleaded guilty on November 28, 2005 to charges of conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud and tax evasion in what came to be called the Cunningham scandal. Sentenced to over eight years.[91]

  • Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) struck a U.S. Capitol Police officer in the chest after he attempted to stop her from going around a security checkpoint. McKinney apologized on the floor of the House and no charges were filed (March 29, 2006) [92]
  • William J. Jefferson (D-LA) in August 2005 the FBI seized $90,000 in cash from Jefferson's home freezer. He was re-elected anyway, but lost in 2008. Jefferson was convicted of 11 counts of bribery and sentenced to 13 years on November 13, 2009, and his chief of staff Brett Pfeffer was sentenced to 84 months in a related case.[93][94]
  • Bill Janklow (R-SD) convicted of second-degree manslaughter for running a stop sign and killing a motorcyclist. Resigned from the House and given 100 days in the county jail and three years (2003)[95]
  • Robert Torricelli Senator (D-NJ) after 14 years in the House and one term in the Senate, Torricelli declined to run again when accused of taking illegal contributions from Korean businessman David Chang. (2002)[96]
  • Jim Traficant (D-OH) found guilty on 10 felony counts of financial corruption, he was sentenced to 8 years in prison and expelled from the House (2002)[97]

  1993–2000 Bill Clinton Administration 

  Executive Branch


  • Webster Hubbell (D) Associate Attorney General, pleaded guilty to mail fraud and tax evasion while in private practice.[98] Sentenced to 21 months in prison (1995)[99]
  • Henry Cisneros (D) Secretary of Housing. Resigned and plead guilty (1999) to a misdemeanor charge of lying to the FBI about the amount of money he paid his former mistress, Linda Medlar while he was Mayor of San Antonio, Texas. He was fined $10,000 (1999)[100]
  • Ronald Blackley, (D) Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy's Chief of Staff, sentenced to 27 months for perjury. Mike Espy was found innocent on all counts. http://laws.findlaw.com/dc/983036a.html (1999)
  • Bill Clinton President(D) Impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice for allegedly lying under oath about sexual relations with intern Monica Lewinsky. Clinton was acquitted by the Senate and remained in office. Clinton subsequently was cited for contempt of court and agreed to a five-year suspension of his Arkansas law license. (1998).[101] On October 1, 2001, Bill Clinton was barred from practicing law before the Supreme Court of the United States (2001)[102]
  • Pardongate President Bill Clinton (D) granted 140 pardons on his last day in office January 20, 2001 for a total of 396.[103] which seemed large compared to the total of 74 by George H. W. Bush, but not when compared to Ronald Reagans total of 393.[104]
  • Whitewater scandal (1994–2000) independent counsel Kenneth Starr (R) investigated the Clintons' role in peddling influence for the Whitewater (real estate) Development Corporation while he was Governor of Arkansas. No criminal charges were brought against either President Bill Clinton (D) or First Lady Hillary Clinton (D)[105]
  • Wampumgate Bruce Babbitt (D), Secretary of the Interior 1993–2001, accused of lying to Congress about influencing a 1995 American Indian tribe casino decision. Babbitt was cleared of all wrongdoing.[106]
  • Filegate alleged misuse of FBI resources by Clinton Security Chief, Craig Livingstone (D), to compile an 'enemies' list (1996); Investigation found insufficient evidence of criminal wrongdoing[107]
  • Vincent Foster (D) the White House lawyer was alleged to have been murdered by either Bill or Hillary Clinton, for various reasons and with varying degrees of involvement. The suicide was investigated by the Park Police Service, the FBI, Independent Consultant Robert Fiske and finally by Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr all of whom ruled that it was a simple suicide (1993)[108]
  • Travelgate, involving the firing of White House travel agents. In 1998 Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr (R) exonerated President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton of any involvement (1993)[109]

  Legislative Branch

  • Barbara-Rose Collins (D-MI) found to have committed 11 violations of law and house rules stemming from use of campaign funds for personal use.[110]
  • Wes Cooley (R-OR), Cooley was convicted of having lied on the 1994 voter information pamphlet about his service in the Army. He was fined and sentenced to two years probation (1997)[111]
  • Austin Murphy (D-PA) convicted of engaging in voter fraud for filling out absentee ballots for members of a nursing home.[112]
  • Newt Gingrich (R-GA), the Speaker of the House, was accused of financial improprieties leading to House reprimand and $300,000 in sanctions [113] leading to his resignation (1997)[114]
  • Walter R. Tucker III (D-CA) resigned from the House before conviction on charges of extortion and income tax fraud while he was Mayor of Compton, California. Sentenced to 27 months in prison.(1996)[115]
  • Nicholas Mavroules (D-MA) pleaded guilty to bribery charges.[116]
  • House banking scandal [117] The House of Representatives Bank found that 450 members had overdrawn their checking accounts, but had not been penalized. Six were convicted of charges, most only tangentially related to the House Bank itself. Twenty two more of the most prolific over-drafters were singled out by the House Ethics Committee. (1992) [118]

1.      Buzz Lukens (R-OH) convicted of bribery and conspiracy.[119]

2.      Carl C. Perkins (D-KY) pled guilty to a check kiting scheme involving several financial institutions (including the House Bank).[119]

3.      Carroll Hubbard (D-KY)convicted of illegally funneling money to his wife's 1992 campaign to succeed him in congress.[120]

4.      Mary Rose Oakar (D-OH) was charged with seven felonies, but pleaded guilty only to a misdemeanor campaign finance charge not related to the House Bank.[119]

5.      Walter Fauntroy (D-DC) convicted convicted of filing false disclosure forms in order to hide unauthorized income.[119]

6.      Jack Russ Sgt. at Arms, convicted of three counts.[119]


1.      Dan Rostenkowski (D-IL) Rostenkowski was convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison, in 1995.[122]

2.      Joe Kolter (D-PA) Convicted of one count of conspiracy[123] and sentenced to 6 months in prison.[124]

3.      Robert V. Rota Postmaster, convicted of one count of conspiracy and two counts of embezzlement.[121]

TSA: Touch Me

TSA:  Touch: Sexual Assault 

I was in an airport not long ago just after the new more intrusive search requirements had been put into place.  Since I have a prosthetic knee I am always searched at the security area.  The TSA persons are usually very professional and offer a private pad down and recite a scripted explanation of what they are about to do.  I support airport security measures in the main.  I support the deterrent of screenings.  But, I do not support being sexually grouped by a TSA agent the last time I flew.  TSA would say there is nothing sexual about the touching.  BS.  Would that fly with a pedophile?  It was not about the sex.  Not a chance.  Why in the world did we think that TSA could get away with this invasion of or liberty?  We are guaranteed by the constitution against unlawful search.  What happened?  Are we now in a country that says the collective has rights that over rule individual rights as the constitution says?  He did explain to me that he was going to touch with the side of his hand my groin and was going to go up high enough to touch my private parts.  He indicated he would do this on both sides of my groin area.  He patted me down as usual but then he slide his hand up and touched my gonads and did the same on both sides.  I was shocked and I am not shocked easily.  The violation of my person in a sexual way is not what we need to be doing in order to protect us from terrorism.  Who protects us from unwanted search?  This is a very slippery slope.

Not only has this women been molested but she was then made to be the aggressor in this drama.  The man filming caught the over reaching TSA when they threatened all kinds of criminal action if he did not quit filming.  That is just as disturbing to me as the women in the background.  I guess it was the man taking the video’s mother.

If Muslim apparently you did not have to be searched if you are a women.  You have got to be kidding me.  Muslim women and men dressed as Muslim women have blown themselves up and killed American GI’s and Americans and others.  What brain dead idiot conceived the idea that Muslim women should not be searched at all?  They should be allowed to pat themselves down.  Unbelievable.  The following has been reported all over the web but not on Lamestream media. “

Asked in the closing moments of an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation” if she would submit to “one of these pat-downs” that has caused a national outcry among travelers, Clinton replied, “Not if I could avoid it.”
“No, I mean who would?” she said with a chuckle.


The answer to her “who would?”, would be any person not an elite who wanted to fly.  And any person who willing gives up their constitution protection of unlawful search.   
On the funnier side you have to wonder what it is doing to the TSA men and women who have been touching another’s junk for months now.  50 touches a day for 6 months means around 10000 touches.  I wonder what is going on in their mind.  Maybe they begin to think that this is no big deal.  Why can’t I just touch somebody’s Junk whenever I want to?  After 10000 touches I bet his sex life has changed a bit.  To say this is not a sexual act is not to understand what it means to say no.  The legal and political implications if this does not change are gigantic.  The government has no right to do this unless there is a good reason and getting on a plane is not reason enough.  There have been terrorist acts on trains, boats, schools, and police stations and just about anywhere you can imagine.  This has gone way to far.  If type of behavior continues then the terrorists have won a battle.  The battle of disrupting our free society.  There is always a trade off between freedoms and security but this is not about security this is about political correctness and the grab for power from a new bureaucracy TSA.

With Honor

WITH HONOR OUR TROOPS 



Soldiers give of their time, treasure, wellness, and basic freedoms to insure that we the people may practice what they have given up for us.   

I salute and thank all veterans for their service and I also acknowledge their specific losses during that service for me.  I don't think we fully understand what a veteran gives up to serve. 

With sacrifice they have served.  Death, is the worse loss but other forms of sacrifice need to be remembered.    

Time lost; most vets served from 2 (730 days) to 4 (1460 days) years.   Whether drafted or enlisted, sacrifice was the name of the game.  Not going to college with the rest of your his school graduating class.  Away from home for the holidays, Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, births, deaths, burials, graduations, and the like leave memories of time lost.   

Freedom lost; Told what to do and how to do it for at least the next few years.  Told how and when to kill.  Told how and when to die.  Given the means to kill and to survive.  These are lessons that are never forgotten but are pushed deeply inside the veteran and not talked about.  It is not politically correct.  Freedom of speech disappears the first day of Basic training.  Freedom to assemble is gone for your tour of duty.  You may assemble only as the NCO and Officers direct you to.  Freedom to bare arms is mandatory.  No choice here.  Freedom to worship as you choose takes a back seat to the needs of the State on a given day.  No private property here.  Just a barracks, where the government issues you a bed and locker.  The term Government Issue (GI) takes on a new meaning when your underwear is Government Issue.  Freedom to use the bathroom disappears the first day.  Freedom to have opinions voiced is gone permanently.   

Losses:  innocence, time, family relationships, money, career, youth, physical health, mental health, spiritual health, educational goals, and many other losses to numerous to list here.

The US Bill of Rights:
Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.  

Soldier gives up: You do not speak until spoken to and then you are only allowed to speak in a manner that is military speak.  Sir, No Sir etc,  I thought I had an opinion about a topic and so spoke it.  After KP and a few other punishments I learned fast that my freedom of speech was banned for a while.  We were only aloud to assemble when ordered to.  To assemble and to vote on what the NCO’s had ordered us to do was a military criminal offense.  We could petition the government through the Military Chaplin.  How do you think that worked out. 

Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.  

A soldier gives up his personnel right to bear arms. The soldier is only allowed to bear arms only at the discretion of the authorities to be.  I had no personal right to bear arms. 

Amendment III


No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

This amendment was adhered to.

Amendment IV


The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.  

A soldier gives up his right to security of person and security of property when in the military.  Your very clothes and living area can and is searched on a regular basis.  This is called inspections.  Some of your personnel property is deemed contraband and is confiscated by the military even though in the civilian world it would be perfectly legal.

Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.  

As the Amendment specifies.  If in the service these rights are suspended.

Amendment VI




A soldier gives up his Miranda rights and the process of the constitutional based prosecution.  No speedy trial, no public viewing, no right to confrontation by accuser.  In place is the Military Code of Justice.  It is not the same as the Constitutional process at all.

Amendment VII


In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise reexamined in any court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

The military does not operate under common law at all. 

Amendment VIII


Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Amendment IX

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Amendment X


The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

We are Broke

Reality, “We are Broke”.


Reality, Minnesota (my home state) and the Feds are spending more money than they take in.

Reality, The government borrows money and pays interest on the borrowed money every month just like you do with your mortgage. The interest paid decreases the real money available to spend for services.

Example: Canada 10 years ago was broke; their dollar was $1.50 to ours. They had to bite the bullet, and they did. They closed 1/3 of their hospitals because the Socialized Medicine was breaking them. They regulated their banks and they were not hit with the mortgage crises at all. They made loans to those who could pay it back. In fact their real-estate is going up not down. Then they mined, drilled and exported everything they could. Today their dollar is at par with us and their debt to gdp is 70% 10 years earlier their debt to gdp was at 140%. They have come back from the brink of devaluing their dollar and becoming a third world country. We are headed in the direction of becoming a European style country. If I wanted to live in Europe I would move.

Example; Japan was going to own all of our assets in the 80’s, They were the China of today. They had growth, cash and exports. Today they have a debt to gdp of 225%. Over the last 20 years they did became more socialistic, The government controlled prices and interest rates and bailed out banks and industry, dramatically increased taxes just to keep up appearances and wages high with benefits that were not sustainable. The great industrial nation of Japan is about to become a third world country. They still make great products but they are 2 ½ times more broke than we are. Given the Earthquake and tsunami it will be 50 years before, if ever, that they dig them selves out of the economic hole they made for themselves. Taxes in Japan are at 50%. They pay $50 of every $100 to the government. This government has debt that is 2.25 times greater than there total gdp. They do not have a chance. If the government took all their money they would still have to borrow to survive. It is only a matter of time before they default on everything or start a war to get out of the mess they are in.

Enough about money. The point is we are broke and we can go the way of Europe, Japan and others and completely enslave ourselves to our governments or we can get out of this mess and never get back in it. It is a war of philosophies at best. Individual Responsibility vs. Government Responsibility. Which do you want? Unions, welfare, farmers, public employees, and every special interest want hand outs, bailouts, benefits and all they can get. They do not care who pays. The government should not be in a position to decide whom the winners and losers are especially with my tax dollar. Why does the government need to employee 2 million workers who cannot be laid off and maintain a standing army of 1.5 million. It is nuts.



Enough of Money:



The presidential season is not yet here and that is all that is on Cable News. I hate it. It is just the same old same old. Their time will come next year give us a break. I do not care who has polled the highest in the last 3 days. I do not care who has been sleeping with whom. I do not care whom Wolf Blitzer thinks will win the race. I do not care if you like Palin or not. Nobody has a crystal ball and nobody especially the pollsters have a clue but they sure like to make us think they do.



We have some real problems that need to be talked about and not just used to get reelected. I already see the Dems with adds of Reps pushing old ladies off cliffs as only the beginning of politics as usual. We are broke who does not get that. If you are a sitting legislature anywhere you better begin to work on the peoples business and stop the “I am working on getting reelected.” Oh please let us have term limits so we can get some work done and get rid of the legislatures whose primary interest is in themselves and reelection, and not doing what “we the people want”. I am 64 soon to be 65. Nobody is going to push me off a cliff. I will survive no matter what the government does. I believe that. Apparently there are still majorities of people who believe that government is the solution to their survival. I do not. If it was all taken away from me today, Social Security, Medicare and whatever else I would survive. I would still go fishing and I would still eat. I guarantee this to myself. I am not looking for a guarantee from the government. They cannot solve one personal problem. They can not solve one economic problem, is all they can do is to take our money and claim they have solutions to our problems. How has that been working for you the last 50 years? Why in the world do we think they can ?



A great example of what is happening in the world of government. Minnesota is no different than the federal government. The legislature passes a spending bill that has major cuts. We are a small state and we are 5 Billion in debt. That is to say we spend every dime we collect and then need to spend 5 billion more that we do not collect. The governor waits till the session is adjourned then vetoes it because he wants to tax the rich and add another billion in spending to the state. Now all the special interest who are at the government trough, unions, elderly, schools, education, and the like want to tax the rich some more so they can keep doing what they have done the past 50 years. Living beyond their means at the taxpayer’s expense. He is nuts. We are broke. Now he will call a special session and attempt to work out a compromise. I do not want a compromise. We are broke. The government does not need more money my god they have mishandled what they have why would any sane person give them more. This is only Minnesota. By the way the special session will cost an arm and a leg but it is just taxpayer money. So why do they care. If they cannot complete the work of the people they should loose their job.



Another example is the debt ceiling being raised once again. We have put off dealing with this for 10 years. We have even passed federal legislation that was just circumvented by the administration so they now do not have to deal with the debt ceiling till august. Does anybody think they will deal with it then? I don’t. If they do it will only be raised again with all the Politicians saying that there are real cuts in the future and we will just do this onetime. They are all liars and everybody knows it. More fear, we will default on our debt and send the world into a tailspin. Give me a break. Liars.

Can you imagine saying to your mortgage holder just give me some more money and I will then use the loaned money to get caught up. Why in the world does our government seem to practice this illogic logic?



The bottom line is term limits. If we had politicians with term limits they would no longer be able to stay in office with special interest buying their vote. Then we the people might get the work of the country done. What ever happened to do the right thing not the politically correct thing? Lets get rid of the old guard and send some new legislators that believe in Individual Responsibility, smaller and leaner government, balanced budgets, spending what we have to spend not more, get out of peoples lives, lower taxes and the like.

Spring is Here

One of my last blogs looked over the landscape of what is happening now and I thought as I sit here looking over the Mississippi River thinking about all the fish we caught this week end, that I should look back at that blog and see if anything has changed since then. The red texts are the new thoughts.



PALIN: She has actually worked for a living. By the way her accent is Alaskan. She is not stupid, her child is not a burden and she is college educated. Make all the fun of her you want be remember you may have voted for the second coming and look what your perception got you there.

Selbysays: She is still my pick. As the Trump noise has continued and now is out and Newt is now in I see Palin continuing to be reasonable and waiting for the right time and not being pushed by the media. She is able to do what is good for her and not react to what is good for the media.



TRUMP: He is popular now but I doubt that he will be in it for the long run. I read his book, The Art of the Deal years ago and one of the centerpieces of his deal making is that he rarely takes more than 2 minutes on most deals. Then he delegates and goes from there. I do not see the Presidency as a 2-minute deal.

Selbysays: He continues with his 2-minute deals and continued self promotion. He is his own best fan. Now he is out



OBAMA: I have no idea what planet this president is living on. He wants to continue to raise the debt of the nation in the face of a disaster that is predicted by anybody who thinks that there has to be a limit to how much money can be printed by the Government to pay our bills. I will give him this he has given us a new word to deal with, TRILLION, here is a good trivia question, What comes next?? (Quadrillion). My answer is disaster.

Selbysays: Osama is dead “we hope” and was killed by a Navy Seal who was or was not acting on the orders of the President. What a mess the WH has made with this story. Obama wants to be the law and order president and not the cold blooded killer he is. He killed Osama, and tried to kill Gaddafi more than once and only seceded in killing his kids; I am not complaining about his behavior just his words of deceit. “He had a gun”, “he was attacking the Seal”, he was using his wife as a shield”. All lies put out by the WH to cover the fact that Obama order the killing of Osama.

This discussion has taken the worry about our finances off the table. Given what has been said lately we do not have to worry about such mundane issues as deficits and the like. Not a word lately except the unemployment rate went up, housing starts went down, home values deflated more and he wants to raise taxes. By the way the deficit limit was reached today and we are now borrowing from Federal retirees accounts. What a way to do business. If I am not mistaken if a Company in the private sector were to take retirement money they would be brought up on criminal charges.



LIBYA: What a great decision to enter into this civil war where the goals are as murky as the Mississippi River in flood. They are a small desert country with a small population that only produces 2% of the worlds oil. What did we have to gain? Nothing. Bring down Gaddafi you say. Why. He has controlled the extremist Muslims the al Queda types for years. The entire Mideast is on fire.

Selbysays: Let us see what is new. Syria is killing its civilian population faster than anybody else. Iran is making a bomb and killing its people. Syria is attacking Israel. The New Egyptian Government is calling for the destruction of Israel. Pakistan was protecting Osama and his many wives. Pakistan fired on NATO today. In order to win the war in Afganistan we are now negotiating with the Taliban for a truce. Sounds like Kissinger and Vietnam to me. We have sent some missiles in an attempt to kill Gaddafi. We did get Osama since the last blog but have only gotten some of Gaddafi’s family to include some kids. To bad. Maybe we should just try and arrest this man with the FBI and then try him in NY City. I am sure that Obama’s, Holter would love a shot at that. Our Libyan policy is truly unbelievable. What in the world are we doing?



GINGRICH: He is the smartest in the field but he has way too much baggage

Selbysays: He is still the smartest in the field and does not have a chance. He currently has his foot in his mouth but he will come back. He is one of the good old boys and that works against him.



JAPAN: What a mess. That’s it.

Selbysays: What a Mess. That’s it. More radiation and more fears. It will take 50 years to get out of this mess



ROMNEY: He has health care baggage as governor. He is to slick to be a candidate. I am sure the Dems would love to have him in the election. How about that State Universal Health Care, looks like Obama care to us. .

Selbysays: Is all he can do is run from the State HealthCare he is responsible for. Not a chance to win.





On a personal note, I’m glad fishing season and spring has arrived in Bemidji, MN. My view of the world is not as pessimistic as it was this winter. A little sun and a few fish go a long way with my mental health. Even though creeping socialism, the unions grab for power, idiot legislators with no term limits, lying politicians, two or three wars, a president who has not a clue, a country that is broke but, but, but, a state that is broke but, but, but, greedy corporations, a supreme court that makes law, out of control public schools, and a few other issues, life is now better.

One Down Many to Go

One Dead, Many to Follow;




The death of OBL is a good thing. It is not the end of anything except his life and his leadership. He was a symbol of and not the actual leader of Al q. Make no mistake his symbol will live on and on in the media and the minds of Al q. as he becomes a martyr to the radical Muslim cause. That cause being the killing of all the Christians they can as fast as they can and wherever they can. Having said this it remains to be seen when the retaliation will occur and what form it will take. The only hope of not having a retaliation on our own soil is that Al q. is involved in most of the middle east’s problems and just maybe they are to busy just now to try something. Who knows? I would like the press to just take a breath and not look for the hidden conspiracies that surround the reporting and the information that seems on its surface to be different from different folks. OBL IS DEAD. That is the story. Anybody who says we need his picture to prove that he is dead, does not have Photoshop software on his or her own computer. Either you believe your elected officials about something like this, or you do not. If you do not you are probably just going to say after the release of the pictures, video etc. That “they just photo shopped the media” and the same guys who put together the moon landing film created the video.



Of course that is why the WH can not get its story straight. The writers continue to edit this story to score political points. The biggest problem this White House has is telling “We the People” that they shot OBL in cold blood. I think that was the most appropriate outcome of the raid. I think most Americans believe this but the WH in its wisdom thinks “We the People” will think that the President is a cold-blooded killer. He is and more power to him. He should take the advise that John Ryan gave to his president in Clear and Present Danger. “Don’t just say he was your friend, say he was a close friend.” Ryan’s point was don’t hide it just puts sharks in the water. OBL needed to die right then and there. The concept of “needed killin’” certainly came into play here. Those who say we should have brought him back to NY and persecuted and then prosecuted him, have their head stuck in the sand or something. Oh, poor boy he did not have a gun. The politically correct police are trying to make it sound like he posed an immediate threat therefore the President was justified in killing him. When in fact the order to kill him came from the President himself who now wants to make it look different than reality. Does anybody believe that killing OBL was made by some line Delta 6 guy? Not a chance. If anything they are trained to follow orders even if they do not want to. That’s what this and other politicians do. They change reality to fit what a poll said. SPIN even when they get it right. SPIN. I wish the President had the courage and faith in “we the people” to just say I ordered it and that is that. Of course the liberal press would be apoplectic and I am sure the AG would consider an inquiry and maybe want to prosecute the President in NY City. After all OBL did not get his due process as required by the Constitution. He was an enemy combatant and he should have been read his Miranda Rights in his bedroom, just as the CIA and others are required to do or face prosecution. We prosecuted 3 other seals for much less. The AG wanted to send a message. What a load of Crap. OBL is dead and that is a good thing for our country.



Today I was proud of this country. We acted a little more like Israel in that as Bush said “ you can run but we will find you and kill you, we are coming for you”. The Israel’s have done this for years and sometimes it takes time for justice to be meted out. But it is a message that if you want to plan and carry out these events you will be killed.
